Delivering wedding gifts

Today’s blog is rather topical – delivering wedding gifts.

First congrats to Kate and William, we hope your day goes well and that your married lives  are filled with happiness.

Second, who is going to move all the gifts after the wedding?

In the case of the Royal wedding their will be staff on hand to pack the gifts up and transport them back to their new home. Their biggest problem is loading the vehicles safely so that items are not broken.

For not so affluent newlyweds  family help out and transport items back to their home. Again careful loading needs to take place.

If you have your gifts in a room at a hotel, be careful!

It has been known for a distracted receptionist to allow the wrong people in to collect the wedding gifts and for the gifts never to bee seen again! That’s no way to start a relationship.  Collecting gifts from a room in a hotel will always be precarious for just one person, the room is open, the vehicle is in the car park and it can take time to load and reload. Be vigilant and get help!

Larger wedding gifts can always be delivered direct to the bride and groom, along with any really valuable items.

Anyone need a Tiara delivering?

A Courier for your Gym Equipment

With summer almost upon us, people turn to getting fit. With gym equipment bargains to be had on Ebay, BT Tradespace and other online stores, the next consideration is the courier for delivery

What can be moved by same day or overnight courier?

  • Exercise bikes
  • Rowing machine
  • Bench Press
  • Elliptical trainers
  • Treadmills
  • Weight machine
  • Star climbers

Ideally items would be dismantled and in their original packaging, it makes it easier to load and strap into place. It it’s unable to be sent  in it’s original packaging, then we can still collect and deliver for you – it can be wrapped in our soft felt blankets.

Gym equipment for the parcel networks

  • Exercise balls
  • Exercise bands
  • Chin bars
  • Some abdominal trainers
  • Some small weights

When packing weights for transportation you need to make sure the box can take the combined weights and packaging is strong enough and that the box won’t collapse when lifted. Exercise balls need to be defalted for posting and abdominable trainers need to fit in a box, but be sure they are not putting you over the volumetric weight that your parcel company takes.

If you require any advice about getting your gym equipment please give us a call on 0844 884 3331

Regards,
Kevin

Packing a Chandelier to send by post or a parcel company

Firstly, I wouldn’t send a chandelier by post unless I really had to, with a high value, fragile item I would always opt for a dedicated courier vehicle. These carry higher insurances and have nothing else on the vehicle except for your item, making it less likely to get damaged.

Sometimes, you need to send it via the post or an Essex, Kent, East London parcel company such as Arrow Light Haulage.  So to get it there in one piece, find a box big enough for the chandelier and the packaging.  You will need to remember if the item is over 25kgs it will need to be lifted by 2 people – HSE rules.

Wrap all the loose parts with bubble wrap and tape securely. Place gently onto a polystyrene base and then fill with polystyrene chips or popcorn. Place another polystyrene bad gently on the top of the Chandelier, taking care not to damage the item. before you secure the box, check that the item isn’t ratting around in the box, if it is add more chips and perhaps pad out with scrunched up balls of newspaper.

When the Chandelier is secure, tape the box closed and write on the box in marker pen, the address. Why not a label? because a label may get torn, or damaged and your item may get ‘lost’ in the system.

If you don’t want to pack it yourself, we can do this as part of our premium services. Just give us a call on and we will discuss how we can help you.
